Introduction

Speke Training & Education Centre (STEC) is a registered charity which has been established for over twenty years. We aim to contribute to sustainable regeneration on Merseyside by supporting unemployed people back into employment and by promoting lifelong learning amongst those people who move into employment. We try to accomplish these goals through the provision of skills training programmes.

Our activities are diverse and because we seek to provide a bridge between business and communities, our training reflects the varied contexts in which people can enjoy and benefit from learning - from community-based projects improving local environments, through to learning at STEC or completing National Vocational Qualifications whilst in work. We also offer waged opportunities (ILMs) which can break the cycle of long-term unemployment and enable beneficiaries to earn while they learn. We actively welcome all applicants facing disadvantage and barriers to success in the labour market.

Whilst vocational training is clearly a big part of STEC, we are much more than just a training centre - we are a resource for individuals, for community groups and for business. This is exemplified by our managed office tenancy service that is both extremely competitive and highly popular with charities and small businesses alike.

We are proud to be based in Speke/Garston and to have made a contribution to the regeneration of south Liverpool during the past decade. We hope to continue to serve beneficiaries for many years to come by working in partnership with Employers, Colleges, Local Authorities, Jobcentre Plus, JET Centres, Registered Social Landlords and the vibrant network which constitutes the Voluntary Sector in the North West.

However, please don't take my word for it. Speak to STEC people - staff, learners, tenants, local businesses, community partners and former beneficiaries to discover what we can offer. On behalf of the Trustees of STEC, I extend a true "Scouse" welcome and invite you to browse the following pages - maybe we have something to offer you!
